Can someone explain how “ray left” works differently from “hand left”?
AFAIK, Ray left is positioned at the tip of the controller and hand left at the center of the hand
So for Raycasting, Ray Left is better, while hand left is better for things like grabbing

It’s the orientation and position, you will notice a orientation offset, if you try using getForward() on HandLeft - versus RayLeft will always have the correct forward vector you should be using for emitting a cursor-ray
